Our story
CivilWorks has been providing civil engineering and construction services since July 2017 in disciplines such as roads, bridges, building sites, earthworks, drainage, retaining walls, subdivisions and agricultural development. We work throughout the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Waikato Regions and have strong relationships with Local Authorities, suppliers and subcontractors.
We have a very hands-on practical approach that ensures our project outcomes are “fit for purpose”, cost effective and innovative. We offer a “Practitioners Approach” and like to keep things simple where risk, quality, and durability allow.

Hamish Johnson, NZCE Civil, Managing Director of CivilWorks Limited, has over 30 years’ experience in the civil engineering and construction industry working as both a Consultant and Contractor. Hamish has gained his experience working throughout New Zealand, Australia and Canada where he has been responsible for all stages of project delivery from inception through to completion.
He has led multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and technicians tasked with the planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure. Hamish has a wealth of hands-on practical experience through his involvement in the direct management construction projects and being responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of road networks, water supplies, sewerage systems, parks and reserves, and building facilities in the capacity of Works Supervisor, Works Manager, Contractor’s Representative, Contract Manager and Engineer’s Representative.
Hamish is also skilled and competent machine operator, drainlayer and construction worker.
